Jay Prakash Singh

From Village Soil to National Service – A Life of Discipline, Reform & Leadership

“Service to the nation isn’t about position — it’s about impact.”

Born in a humble farming family in rural Bihar, Captain Jay Prakash Singh’s journey began in a village pathshala where values of hard work, simplicity, and integrity were deeply rooted. From those modest beginnings, he rose — purely on merit — to serve India across its most powerful institutions for over four decades.

Very few individuals in the country have successfully served in:

  • The Indian Army

  • The Indian Civil Services (IRTS)

  • The Judiciary (Supreme Court-appointed Tribunal Member)

  • Scholar, Researcher & Author

Captain Singh is among that rare league.

Captain Jay Prakash Singh’s journey proves one powerful truth — your background does not limit your destiny.

Commissioned into the Indian Army while still a postgraduate student, he served on the borders with distinction. After a life-altering injury, he rose again — joining the Civil Services and later serving at the judicial level as a Supreme Court-appointed Member.

Soldier, Civil Servant, Judicial Authority & Author

For UPSC aspirants, his life is not just inspiring — it is instructive.

He understands the pressure of preparation, the weight of responsibility, and the discipline required to lead. His journey reflects resilience, clarity of purpose, and unwavering integrity — the very qualities the Civil Services demand.
